The PN experiments – will you take part?
By Sue Farrow
Spiritualism has long been known as a religion, a philosophy and a science. But it seems that the ‘science’ bit (thorough, methodical investigation of mediumship with the aim of learning more about it) is now a thing of the dim and distant past.
The days when gifted mediums willingly offered themselves for open-minded research, being as curious as any researcher to understand the workings of their mediumship, seem long gone. But are they? From what you tell us, many of you would love to discover more about
the many aspects of mediumship, and perhaps even push your ability a little further as a result of the experimental process.
In decades gone by, members of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) and the American SPR worked with numerous distinguished mediums including Leonora Piper, Gladys Osborne Leonard, Bertha Harris, Eileen Garrett and Leslie Flint to learn more about the many extraordinary ways in which mediumship can work.
And it wasn’t only the SPR who conducted these experiments. Respected Spiritualists such as Eric Hatton, Vi Kipling and others also recognised the importance of research when in the 1990s they joined with Professors David Fontana, Arthur Ellison and their colleagues in a collaboration known as PRISM.
We’re fortunate to live in incredibly exciting times, perhaps more so than any previous generation of Spiritualists. Every day, quantum physics is uncovering more about the unseen aspects of the universe, and we at PN feel strongly that in the light of so much new information Spiritualism needs to return to the investigative roots of our pioneers.
We’ve assembled a group of four fantastic researchers who’ve devised experiments designed not only to shed further light on the mechanics of communication with the spirit world, but also to be thoroughly enjoyable for those taking part. Once we’ve recruited our mediums we’ll be recruiting a group of anonymous sitters to take part in some of the experiments. We’ll have more to say about that in a later edition of PN, so look out for a further announcement.
For the moment, we are looking for mediums of ten or more years’ experience who are interested in taking part in a number of non-invasive, mutually agreed experiments in an attempt to better understand the many ways in which communication with the next world can take place. Age and gender are immaterial.
Do you fit the above criteria and have a natural curiosity to discover more about how your mediumship (and other people’s) works?
If so, email us at: pneditorials@gmail.com or write to us at Psychic News, Unit 2, Griggs Business Centre, West Street, Coggeshall, Essex CO6 1NT. We’ll then send you an information leaflet and a questionnaire to complete.
